Communication is key for remote workers in current times. With majority of staff working from home due to the COVID-19 outbreak, employers need to ensure their business has the capability to manage easy and effective communication wherever they are working. Microsoft Teams is the go-to tool for business use.
What is Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft Teams is the new wave of communication. Built as a part of Office 365’s robust and enterprising cloud platform, Teams is a simple and effective calling and meeting tool. Through its desktop and mobile apps, the platform provides a chat feature, voice & video conferencing, SharePoint & Outlook integration, notes, and ability to send and hold attachments. Together with a large library of third-party app integrations, this provides your business with a flexible and collaborative team experience.
The Benefits of Teams
More businesses have recognised that having a centralised communication platform that allows their workforce to collaborate is key. This has laid the path for Microsoft Teams to become one of the leading tools being used for business. Here are just some of the benefits:
- One centralised hub
- Office 365 integration
- Customise Teams through APIs and bot frameworks
- Enterprise security & compliance
- Azure Active Directory integration
- No extra cost to Office 365 users
How to Access Teams
To get access to Microsoft Team you need to have an Office 365 account. Teams is available to Business Essentials, Business Premium, F1, E1, E3, E4 (retired) and E5 customers. It’s also available for Education and Non-profit plans but not yet Government.
Microsoft Teams Helping on the Front line
Microsoft has recently announced that NHS staff will now be able to use Microsoft Teams for free as a response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Headlines have been full of stories covering the immense pressure the NHS is currently under due to the pandemic. Providing free use of Teams will allow hospital staff to effectively communicate on the go.
Cindy Rose, Chief Executive of Microsoft UK, said: “Microsoft is fully committed to assisting the NHS at this incredibly challenging time. The use of Microsoft Teams will ensure the hardworking doctors, nurses and support staff across all NHS organisations have the collaboration tools they need to carry out their vital work. We are hugely appreciative of their ongoing efforts to tackle COVID-19 and will continue to provide support however best we can.”
